Israeli Breakthrough in Early Breast Cancer Detection
A recently developed Israeli device has the potential to be a game-changer in the early detection of breast cancer, Israel 21c reported. The device, named RUTH, analyzes 3D and infrared signals emitted from cancerous and benign breast tissue with no physical contact or radiation. The results of the analysis are then generated without the need for error-prone human interpretation, providing unprecedented accuracy as easily and cheaply as possible. Thus, RUTH not only can improve breast cancer survival rates, but also avoids the various disadvantages of mammography. “This is not guesswork; it is science. We have proof we can explain clinically that our method is working,” said Boaz Arnon, who has pioneered the Israeli technology. The company Arnon founded, Real Imaging, aims to achieve E.U. approval for RUTH this year and plans to submit it for approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration next year.
